Being a frog monitor is easy and fun to do. All you need to start is a notebook and a recording device – many monitors simply use the voice recorder in their mobile phone. You don’t need to be an expert in frog call identification, all you need to do is record frog calls you hear and send them to us. You can do this right from your backyard. We’ll pass the data on to Melbourne Water who will identify which species of frog you have recorded, send you a brief report and add the data to our map. The data you collect will be used to inform planning and decision making on waterway health at Melbourne Water. It will also be added to CSIRO’s Atlas of Living Australia which is used to inform management decisions such as endangered species evaluations.

All personal information is kept in confidence but may be used to contact you for more information about the sighting.
