The Bridge construction is now finalised, completing the Kookaburra Bush Walk.
Made from an environmental polymer manufactured in Australia, the material is stronger than steel and more sustainable. In keeping with the conservation status of the reserve the materials used in the construction are fully sustainable and recycled. The location of the bridge over the water body required careful planning and engineering to ensure footings did not encroach on any of the sensitive environment.
The bridge has been named ‘Kur-Bur-Rer Crossing’. Kur-Bur-Rer is the Boon Wurrung word for koala. The bridge is a great place to stop and enjoy this special place in the heart of Frankston South. It is easy to forget that you are in the middle of suburbia from this vantage point which really demonstrates the reserve as an environmental oasis.
